Over the weekend, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office released a detailed timeline of the confirmed whereabouts of a Sac County trucker before he disappeared three weeks ago. According to authorities, 53-year-old David Schultz of Wall Lake was reported missing by his wife at 2:23 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, after learning he had not dropped off a load of pigs at a station in Sac City. Schultz was scheduled to pick up that load from a confinement in Eagle Grove. Authorities confirmed Schultz did arrive at the site after interviewing load crew members, but police note he had arrived late and was the last truck to depart at approximately 10:50 p.m. Investigators obtained surveillance footage from the MM126 truck stop on U.S. Highway 20 east of Fort Dodge that showed Schultz at the location at 11:15 p.m. His truck was spotted by a DOT camera heading back west on Highway 20, and this was the last confirmed sighting of Schultz. Cell phone data suggests Schultz’s phone arrives at the intersection of Highway 20 and 71 at about 12:18 a.m. and heads north, where the truck, cell phone, and some of Schultz’s belongings were found still inside the cab. Over 100,000 acres have been searched so far. The investigation into Schultz’s disappearance is ongoing with assistance from the Lake View Police Department, Sac County Attorney’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Minneapolis, Minn. Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
