Doug Lynn Hook, age 65, of Carroll, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 11, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Rev. Robert Wagner officiating. Organist for the service will be Ed Ludwig. Casket bearers will be Travis Hook, Nathan Hook, Joe Thielen, Mike Thielen, Tyler Behrens, and Bill Rotert. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday. The casket will be moved to Immanuel Lutheran Church on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Doug was born on March 5, 1958 in Lake City, IA, and he was the son of Monte “Mac” and Evelyn (Jacobs) Hook. He grew up in Lidderdale and graduated from Carroll High School in 1976. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. Doug was a hard worker even in high school helping his Dad on the farm and other farmers as well. Following high school he worked in the salvage business. He started MTC Trucking with his father in the early 90’s and later worked hauling cattle for several companies, most recently Behrens Trucking. Doug was married to Karen Thielen on September 11, 1982 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. They were blessed with three children: Travis, Nathan, and Madison. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to gun shows, going to farm and tractor auctions, tinkering and fixing anything, and most of all spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as “Hooker” by his many good friends.

Doug is survived by his wife Karen of Carroll; son Travis Hook of West Des Moines, son Nathan Hook (Dallas Gagner) of Elkhart, and daughter Madison Hook (Rishabh Ajmera) of Santa Clara, CA; two sisters: Candi Rotert (Bill) of Waterloo, NE, and Pam Hook of Ft. Dodge; a sister-in-law Becky Kruthoff (Rob) of Minnesota; a sister-in-law Donna Bellinghausen (Dale) of Halbur; two brothers-in-law: Joe Thielen (Deb) of Maple River and Mike Thielen (Jill) of Johnston; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Monte “Mac” and Evelyn Hook; his father and mother-in-law Peter and Margaret “Mugs” Thielen; and a brother Randy Hook.
