Adams/Court Street Traffic Signals Deactivated For Study Beginning Thursday

Traffic-Lights-3

Tomorrow (Thursday) marks the beginning of a 90-day traffic study of two control devices on U.S. Highway 30 in Carroll. In November, the Carroll City Council approved the study as a required step for the proposed removal of the traffic lights at Court Street and Adams Street. For the last 30 days, signs at the intersections have noted the signals were being considered for removal, but the lights have operated as usual up to this point. However, the lights will be deactivated on Thursday, and temporary signage and flags will be installed at the intersections. Officials stress that cross traffic will not stop at these sites for the next 90 days and urge motorists and pedestrians to be mindful of this change from the norm. The council will collect data from the study for consideration before deciding whether the signals stay or go. Residents wishing to provide their input on the traffic signals are asked to contact Carroll City Hall by calling 712-792-1000.
