After nearly three months, the burn ban for Audubon County has been lifted. The order prohibiting most forms of open burning has been in place for Audubon County since Oct. 1, but some much-needed precipitation leading up to and over the Christmas holiday allowed for the restrictions to be lifted last week. Audubon Fire Chief and County Emergency Management Coordinator Tyler Thygesen reminds residents who are planning a controlled burn to contact the dispatch center by calling 712-563-2631 before starting. Officials request residents provide their name, a callback number, the burn location’s address, and what is being burned to avoid unnecessary fire department dispatches.
