Iowans continued to see falling prices at the pump following the Christmas holiday in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Dec. 27, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.80 per gallon, a five-cent decrease on the week and down six cents from a year ago. The national average climbed two cents to $3.12 per gallon. Retail diesel in Iowa averaged $3.69 per gallon, a four-cent drop from last week and 57 cents lower than at the end of 2022. The national average for diesel on Wednesday stood at $4.02 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16 per gallon. Propane and home heating oil prices were not reported this week due to the holiday, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were unchanged from $2.51 per MMBtu.
