After nearly 40 years in the business, an Audubon catering service is hanging up the apron officially for retirement. Jan Hilsabeck, owner of Jan’s Catering, announced her official retirement and the selling of the business last week. Hilsabeck says after feeding thousands upon thousands of people at events over the years, like Pheasants Forever and the Aspinwall Customer Appreciation through the co-op, she said it was officially time to retire.
Over the years, Hilsabeck says many great memories were made, and she will cherish the business received from customers and appreciate her staff for all the help.
Hilsabeck is officially signing the business over to Ashley and Chris Obermeier, who will start their own catering business on Jan. 15. Hilsabeck plans on helping the new owners get started in the community by assisting as a guide to ease the transition. Hilsabeck says she cannot thank the community and everyone involved over the years and gives the Obermeiers positive wishes.
