The forecasted snow came just in time for the Carroll County Conservation to offer some exciting new programs. This Sunday at Swan Lake State Park, individuals can participate in a free snowshoe and cross-country skiing program to learn the basic skills to engage in the winter activities. Environmental Education Coordinator, Kristen Bieret says this is a great opportunity for those looking to spend less time inside during the winter months.

If interested in participating in either of the events, there is a sign-up link included below. You must be on the sign-up list to partake in the free activities. Bieret says both programs do have some age restrictions to ensure safety of participants.

Bieret says the programs allow for two hours of cross-country skiing and one hour for snowshoeing lessons.

There are currently five available spots for the snowshoeing and ten for cross-country skiing. Bieret says there is a waitlist in case the time slot is filled, but while more programs will be offered, there are other ways to participate in the winter fun.
