Delores Vonnahme of Carroll

Delores Vonnahme, 101 of Carroll, died Thursday, January 18, 2024 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder.  Music  will be by Nancy Lemker and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Choir.  Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Beth Evans.  Gift Bearers will be Delores’ grandchildren.  Casket Bearers will be Greg Vonnahme, Jon Vonnahme, Jed Vonnahme, Jason Vonnahme, Bryce Hockenson, and Alex Emehiser.  The Breda American Legion Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the Funeral Mass.   Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 5 p.m.   The casket will be moved to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Monday morning where additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m.

Delores was born on October 8, 1922 at Templeton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Kroeger) Stevens.  On June 25, 1946, she was married to Ray Vonnahme; Ray passed away August 10, 1956.  Delores worked at Mt. Carmel with the school lunch program for 27 years; General Electric for 15 years, retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and gardening.  Delores loved playing cards with family and friends and working puzzles.  She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Breda American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, and volunteered with New Hope Village Shop and RSVP.

Delores is survived by her sons, Gary Vonnahme of Carroll and Ron (Mary Lou) Vonnahme of Dubuque; her daughter-in-law, Charlene Vonnahme of Carroll; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray; her son, Gene Vonnahme; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Vonnahme; her great-granddaughter, Lily Emehiser; her sister, Gladys; her brothers, Joe, Don, Marvin and Mel Stevens; and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Alberta, Alice, and Helen Stevens.
