Fourteen Carroll (CHS) and Kuemper Catholic (KHS) large group speech teams have advanced to state after receiving top scores on their performances over the weekend. CHS sent 11 teams, and KHS sent nine teams to the Denison-Schleswig High School on Saturday to compete in districts. Eight of the 11 CHS teams earned a “I” rating to move one group on in Musical Theatre, four in Ensemble Acting, and three in Group Improvisation. Of the nine KHS teams, six advanced in Solo Mime, Group Mime, Group Improvisation, Musical Theatre, and two groups in Ensemble Acting. These teams will travel to Spencer on Saturday, Feb. 3, for the state Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) contest. A complete list of the competitors and their ratings are included below.
