Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids kicks off the first event for their 20th Anniversary this weekend. Whiterock is acknowledging the big milestone with 20 scheduled events throughout the year to engage the public in the beautiful landscapes and recreational opportunities offered. This Saturday, Liz Garst will be giving a presentation about the history of Whiterock. Executive Director Kate Zimmerman says there is no better way to kick off the 20-year celebration, but by learning about how Whiterock got its start all those years ago.

The program begins at 10 a.m. at the Bur Oak Event Center, located off Hwy 141, east of Coon Rapids. Zimmerman says Liz will talk about a little bit of everything, especially about the visit from Nikita Khrushchev back in 1959 to the Garst Farm.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event this Saturday, and no registration is required.
