Carol Frances (Wade) Nuetzman was born on December 11, 1935, the daughter of Ralph and Iola (Paul) Wade in Odebolt, IA. She was baptized in 1936 at Lake View Methodist Church in Lake View, IA, and later confirmed her Lutheran faith in 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt. Carol attended Wall Lake Community School, graduating in 1953. In 1990, she completed a Certified Medical Aide course through Iowa Central Community College.

Carol was united in marriage to Jack Lee Nuetzman on April 4, 1956, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Honolulu, Hawaii. While Jack was stationed in Florida, he and Carol attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Crestview, FL. Together they started the church’s Sunday School program. Many people in the area hadn’t seen a Christmas program before, so they also wrote and directed a well-attended Christmas program.

Over the years, Carol worked as a telephone operator, beautician, Twilight Acres Nurse’s Aide, Home Health nurse, and she helped with the farming operation. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where she served as an assistant organist, eventually becoming the main organist. She played the organ for Peace Lutheran Church for over 60 years, playing for countless weddings and funerals. She was also the Choir Director for 60 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of Ladies Aid, youth counselor, and was willing to help with anything that needed to be done. Carol also served her community by helping to lay the groundwork for Howard Center in Sac City. She worked hard to bring special education services to Sac County. She also was a member of the Legion Auxiliary.

In her free time, Carol found joy in music, gardening, collecting angels, and spending time with Jack. She never missed her grandchildren’s events and was their biggest fan, along with Jack and Danny. She will be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her mashed potatoes, potato salad, and delicious cookies. “Grandma Carol” as many called her, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Carol’s memory include her beloved husband, Jack Nuetzman of Wall Lake, IA; sons Steve (Sue) Nuetzman of Wall Lake, IA, and Randy Nuetzman of Lake View, IA; daughter Debra (Michael) Russom of Nevada, IA; grandchildren: Matthew (Sheena) Nuetzman of Urbandale, IA, Shawn (Emily) Nuetzman of Ankeny, IA, Aaron Russom of Nevada, IA, Abbey (Tadd)
Kingsbury of Colo, IA, Holly (Kyle) Conover of Holstein, IA, and Brandon (Faris) Russom of Pleasant Hill, IA; ten great-grandchildren with another on the way; extended family and many friends.
