A switch gear fire on a ground transformer caused power outages for 576 customers today (Monday). The component fire began just shortly before noon on the electrical unit located on Hwy 30, east of Carroll by Collins Aerospace. The outage affected customers in the area for approximately 15 minutes, and all but two customers have their power fully restored. The remaining businesses without power will take several hours to restore as MidAmerican crews will need to dismantle the damage transformer, replace, and install the new equipment before restoring power.
