The 60th Annual Carroll Chamber of Commerce’s Humanitarian award went to Katie Kruse, who serves on the Carroll High School Foundation and has volunteered countless hours assisting in organizing and helping different programs throughout the community. Emcee Tim Fitzpatrick gave insight into the meaning behind the humanitarian award during his introduction.
A previous winner of this award, Kristen Lundstrom, announced Kruse as the winner. Lundstrom visibly represented the impact Kruse made in the community by showing the many hats, in this case shirts, of different organizations or events that the humanitarian winner has volunteered her own time to help.
Kruse extended her thanks during her acceptance speech, joking that her husband says she can only say yes if it is a paying gig from here on out. She says that is not why she helps out the Carroll community.
Other award winners from the 60th Carroll Chamber of Commerce Banquet include: The Heider Family Foundation, Scott and Cindy Heider (Good Neighbor); Community Oil, Chico and Todd Kanne (Heritage Business); Dave Bruner (Citizen of the Year); Bordenaro’s Meat Market, Tom and Cindy Bordenaro (New Business); and Larry Devine, Carroll Time Herald and Vicki Gach, Carroll Historic Preservation Commission (Public Service).
