Peoples Choice Bank New Housing Inititive Offering First Grant Program For Exterior Housing Projects

Local Peoples Bank in Scranton and Jefferson is starting a new housing initiative to assist local town residents with funding for housing projects. The 25 Corridor Housing Initiative (CHI) began in the fall of 2023, aiming to increase property values and the general attractiveness and availability of housing in local communities. The 25 CHI is a separate entity of the 144 CHI that serves the eastern side of Greene County and beyond. Peoples Bank Market President and Treasurer for 25 CHI Tina Beamen, and Peggy Hoyt, who serves as 25 CHI secretary, says this initiative will serve the eastern side of Greene County and parts of Carroll and Guthrie counties.

The Exterior Matching Grant is eligible to any resident living in the city limits of Churdan, Scranton, Ralston, Bayard, Bagley, and Coon Rapids, looking to complete an exterior project on the house. Those accepted will receive 50% of the total project cost, up to $1,500. Beamen and Hoyt say the application projects will be reviewed by the board and scaled according to need and priority.

Applications are now accepted until Apr. 1. Funds must be used on projects completed by Nov. 30 of that calendar year. All receipts of project costs must be submitted to 25 CHI by Dec. 13 for reimbursement. Beamen and Hoyt encourage all residents of eligible towns to sign up, as grants will be given out until funding is all used up.

Again, applications for the 25 CHI Exterior Matching Grant are due Apr. 1. Flyers with additional information, a link to the Facebook page, and an application have been included below.
