Joan M. Halbur was born on December 23, 1951, the daughter of Louis and Marian (Klocke) Grossman. Joan grew up in Carroll, Iowa and following high school began work at General Electric. Joan made many lifelong friends at GE and remained employed until their closing. She then worked many years with individuals with disabilities. Joan had a passion to help anyone in need and always made sure that her clients were well cared for. She is remembered to have always made sure her clients had a gift to open for Christmas.

Joan M. Halbur was united in marriage to Roger A. Halbur on November 12, 1982.   Roger and Joan operated the family farm while raising their three children. Joan prided herself on being a hard-working mother; no one could return dirty and oily farm shirts to their original white overnight like Joan could!

In her younger years Joan was vivacious and always on the go. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, baking and decorating her amazing cakes and spending time with her many friends and loved ones. Joan was especially fond of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them whenever possible.

Left to cherish the memories of Joan’s beautiful soul are her husband Roger Halbur; son Ben (Kristen) Halbur of Carroll; son John (Stephanie) Halbur of Rockwell, IA; daughter Leann (Leighton) Lansink of Odebolt, IA; 8 grandchildren: Carter Lucas , Katelyn Halbur, Hunter Lucas, Adrian Halbur, Bristol Halbur, Louis Lansink, Evelyn Halbur and Magdalene Halbur; four sisters: Lou Ann Mowrey (Ronnie) of Carroll, Mary “Mickey” Snyder (Barry) of Glidden, Joyce “Fred” Wittrock (Jim) of Carroll and Betty Appleby (Mark) of North Fort Meyers, FL; five brothers: Gary Grossman (Shirley) of Wheaton, IL, Mark Grossman (Lynne) of Waukee, John Grossman (Joan) of Castle Rock, CO, Joe Grossman (Sue) of Albert Lea, MN, Mike (Barb) of Des Moines; sister-in laws: Teri Halbur and Ann Halbur;  brother- in-laws: Jim Bayliss (Linda) and Neil Halbur; also aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Marian Grossman, her sisters: Donna Bayliss and Lori Christofferson, a nephew Aaron Appleby; her in-laws: Dorothy and Adrian Halbur.
