Iowa Fuel Report: Feb. 21, 2024

According to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, fuel prices in Iowa rose for the second consecutive week. As of Wednesday, Feb. 21, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.01, a seven-cent increase from last week but down 20 cents from a year ago. The national average for gas on Wednesday was up one cent to $3.27 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa climbed three cents to $3.83 per gallon, 23 cents below prices from last year and 27 cents lower than the $4.10 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, propane prices held steady at $1.59 per gallon, home heating oil climbed five cents to $3.27 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 15 cents to $1.76 per MMBtu.
