Carroll Community School District’s Board Of Education Holding Special Meeting On Tuesday To Discuss First Designs Of New Transportation Facility

*** Editors Note: The special meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 27, and the post has been updated to provide the correct date

The Board of Education for the Carroll Community School District will hold a special meeting on Tuesday with the main agenda item: the construction process of the new transportation facility. The district reviewed a bid sent from DLR Architectural Services Firm, but concerns about the 7% fee for new construction caused no second motion to approve the agreement. The board initially reviewed this proposal during its Dec. 21 meeting but tabled the item to see if Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau could discuss lowering the fee rates. Berlau negotiated with DLR, who dropped the percentage of new construction to 6.75%, approving the contract during the Jan. 15 meeting. During the meeting on Tuesday, the board is looking to approve the schematic design created by DLR, and if approved, it will proceed into the design development phase. Only two other items are on the agenda for the special meeting: setting a public hearing for spending excess Home School Assistance Program (HSAP) from the flexibility account and considering approving a job description for a position new to the district. Tuesday’s meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Adams Elementary School. The public is welcome to attend.
