Calhoun County Recorder Warns County Residents Of Fraudulent Postcards That Have Been Discovered Being Sent In Iowa

Calhoun County Recorder Cathy Voith in Rockwell City, warns county residents of fraudulent postcards from “county deed recorders” are circulating around Iowa again reported from the Iowa County Recorders Association (ICRA). Voith posted on social media a press release regarding a situation on Forest City, where a resident received a postcard claiming to be from the county deed records/home warranty division with incorrect information about that recipient’s home warranty replacement, advising them to call for interrupted protection. The postcard claims that unless immediate action is made, the homeowners will be left with expensive repairs and/or product replacement if in need of service. If anyone receives this request or something similar to it, they are not to respond in any way, that includes with payment, a phone call, visiting the website or returning any mail request. Those in possession of a fraudulent letter are asked to contact their local county recorder and report it to local law enforcement. Those in Calhoun County with questions or concerns are asked to contact Voith at 712-297-8121.
