Carroll County Supervisors Set Tentative Tax Rates For FY25

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors has agreed to move forward with the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 tax levy rates for urban, rural, and commercial property owners. While not officially set, the board found these figures amenable considering the tight budget year the county is facing. The proposed residential levy rate is $4.60948 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation, an approximately $0.08 decrease from the previous year. The rural levy on agricultural land is decreasing to $7.86428 from $8.01055, but the significant increase in assessments will still result in an increase of approximately 12.5 cents per acre for landowners. Finally, the levy rate for commercial property is also decreasing by about $0.08 to $4.60948 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation. Property owners can expect a mailing from the county by the end of the month listing their anticipated tax payments. However, the figures included in those mailings will not include the county’s debt service or supplemental levies. The board intends to hold the public hearing on the FY25 budget during their April 1 meeting and will formally set the date at next week’s meeting.
