Iowa Fuel Report: March 6, 2024

Fuel price movement in Iowa was mixed for the second consecutive week, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, March 6, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.14, eight cents higher than last week but still three cents below prices from a year ago. The national average climbed 10 cents to $3.39 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa dipped three cents to $3.77 per gallon, compared to $3.94 per gallon last year. Local prices remain 29 cents below the $4.06 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16 per gallon. In heating fuels, propane prices held steady at $1.59 per gallon. Home heating oil prices also did not see any movement at $3.14 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 7 cents to $1.93 per MMBtu.
