Iowa students competed this past weekend in the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) individual event contest, and judges have released their All-State nominations for the top competitors. Audubon High School had one student, Sheridan Meese, selected for solo musical theatre. Carroll High School had three students: Caeden Canuso in solo musical theatre, Sydney Bellinghausen in spontaneous speaking, and Zowie Hickerson in storytelling. Coon Rapids-Bayard’s Lucas Obert was selected for solo musical theatre, and IKM-Manning’s MaKai Protho also qualified in solo musical theatre. Kuemper Catholic had four performers nominated: James Ulveling in improvisation, Joey Masching in improvisation, Louis Meyers in solo musical theatre, and Sarah Batz in acting. These individuals were all invited to perform at the All-State Festival on March 25 at the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls.
