Donald Ernest Feddersen, age 83, was born March 17, 1940, and passed away March 13, 2024, at Kingsley Specialty Care Center in Kingsley, Iowa. He was a beloved husband, father, teacher, and community member.
Don was born in Calumet, Iowa and throughout his life he exemplified dedication and excellence. He was a standout athlete playing basketball for two state tournament teams at Calumet High School, where he also graduated as Valedictorian. His commitment to education led him to pursue a teaching degree from Westmar College.
Following his education, Don embarked on a journey of service, spending five years on a Methodist mission in Beverly, Kentucky, where he touched the lives of many with his compassion and generosity.
In 1969, Don returned to his roots in Audubon, Iowa, where he dedicated himself to shaping young minds as a school teacher for an impressive 36 years. His passion for education and devotion to his students left an indelible mark on the community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Don was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was survived by his sons Craig (Billie) Feddersen of Aurora, CO and Jim (Amy) Feddersen of Lawton, Iowa. Don also had 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lori Feddersen, and parents Ernest Feddersen and Evenlyn (Tegtmeyer) Feddersen.
Donald Ernest Feddersen leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and commitment to education. While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in the knowledge that his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, IA, with Pastor Carla Evers officiating the service, with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Visitation will take place one-hour prior to the service on Tuesday, also at the church.
A luncheon will be served following the committal in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church.
