The Fairview Apartments in Carroll have officially sold, and new owners took possession of the property at the beginning of March. For the past year, the City of Carroll has been pushing for the apartment complex at 512 E 18th Street to be under new management to ensure more quality housing for the community. City Manager Aaron Kookier says that because the apartment unit falls under the USDA program, additional steps were required to get this change in gear.
The apartments transfered ownership from Carlson Property Management in Spencer to MW Capital Group LLC in Sioux City. Kookier says many good changes will come when new owners get to work.
Kookier says he is unsure of MW Capital Group’s other plans for the complex but knows that getting out of the USDA program will open more possibilities, as the USDA controlled much of the business’s operations. Kookier wants it to be made clear that the current tenants under the USDA program will not be kicked off and will be allowed to have the subsidized rent established until the individual moves out or ends the lease agreement.
