Shirley Mae Deeth, age 92, of Bayard, IA, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids, IA, with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Music for the service will be by Patti Patrick and Joe Davidek. Casket bearers will be Tony Pittsenbarger, James Moore, Jonathan Moore, Zach Powell, Jordan Davidek, Daniel Davidek, Curtis Scheetz, and Brad Kline. Honorary casket bearers will be Brandy Kline, Brenda Scheetz, Tara Pittsenbarger, and Trisha Pittsenbarger. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 – 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday evening where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Shirley was born on December 26, 1931 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Roy E. “Mike” and Elizabeth “Molly” (Bilsborough) Adrian. She grew up on her family’s farm south of Ralston, and she attended country school as a girl and graduated from Glidden High School in 1948. Shirley worked at the Scranton Savings Bank and she rented a room from her aunt Suzy. She was married to Dale Robert Deeth on August 29, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids. The couple made their home on a farm near Scranton before moving to Nevada, IA. They later moved back to Scranton and eventually Bayard where they raised their family. Shirley was a cook at the Bayard school for many years. Shirley was member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, played the organ, and was active in LWML . She was a member of the Bayard Lions Club, the Bayard American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. Shirley enjoyed reading, Pinochle, playing Cribbage, painting pictures on her iPad, and sewing, making lots of her children’s clothing. Shirley dearly loved her family and especially visiting her daughters and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her five daughters and their families: Patti Patrick (Bill) of Bayard, Gini Pittsenbarger (J.R. Martinez) of Mesa, AZ, Cyndi Powell (Ron Marshall) of Mitchellville, IA, Lisa Moore (Rick) of Pauls Valley, OK, and Lora Davidek (Joe) of Westminster, CO; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one nephew; and many good friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Dale Deeth in 2013; parents Roy and Elizabeth Adrian; her father-and mother-in-law Emil and Velma Deeth; a brother Dan Adrian and his wife Betty; her brother-in-law Raymond Deeth; and a great-grandson Kristopher Kiger.
