Lake City Residents Will Potentially Be Seeing New Changes To Renting Policies and Prices For Community Memorial Building

The Lake City Community Memorial Building Board will be seeking approval from city council during the next meeting on the new proposed policies and prices for renting the building, after hearing from the residents of the city during the special meeting on Feb. 27. The approach to this was to make the memorial building more accessible to community members, and to utilize the structure in many different ways. City Administrator Jacob Matthews says city council was in support of the changes.

Previously, the auditorium was the only room being rented out for the public to use for events. Matthews says the room was quite large and many people did not want to spend the money to rent such a large room for a smaller event. The Memorial Building board is proposing to have more options of rooms to rent out, including the lobby area, for those smaller events and can be rented out for a cheaper price.

The renting policies are not the only new changes that will be seen at the community building.

Mayor Mike Schleisman mentioned during the meeting that city council was working on creating a new website to allow for online reservations to be made for events wanting to rent out either of the rooms. More details on that will be released once the new policies and prices are approved during the April 1 city council meeting.
