After a long process of raising money through donations and getting approval from city council, the construction of the Lake View Community Center will officially begin in the next few weeks, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for April 4. The Lake View Community Center Committee has worked raising over two million dollars to be used for this project, to serve as an event center for Lake View to host all different events from weddings, birthday parties to concerts and fundraisers. With the bid from Sande Construction out of Humbolt for $2,228,327 being approved during the council’s Feb. 26 meeting, crews are now ready to begin the building phase of the project. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 4 starting at 10 a.m. and donors and supporters are all welcome to attend. The committee is hopeful that by the end of 2024, beginning of 2025, the new community center will be finished and open for the public to use.
