Fuel prices are on the climb up according to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. The report released on Wednesday indicates the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.31, an increase from the $3.17 from the previous week and the $3.19 a year ago. Iowa still is below the national average which sits at $3.52 per gallon, which increased 12 cents from last week and 8 cents from a year ago. Retail diesel prices in Iowa are averaging $3.79 per gallon, a one-cent increase from last week, but still lower than the $3.90 price from a year ago. The U.S average for a gallon of diesel sits at $4.05 per gallon, an increase of one-cent from last week, but also lower than the previous year by 24 cents. Wholesale ethanol has remained unchanged from the $2.16 per gallon. In heating fuel prices propane prices remained the same at $1.59 per gallon and home heating oil increased two cents from last week to $3.20 but still lower than the $3.34 per gallon from a year ago. National gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose two cents to $1.70 per MMBtu.
