South Central Calhoun Community School District and East Sac County each had students bring back winning awards from the 2024 Twin Lakes Conference Art Show. The art show was held on Wednesday, and SCC had five students win an award for their original artwork, and East Sac had two students out of the nine schools and over 100 pieces of artwork submitted. SCC’s Tyjah Sease won Best 3D Artwork of Show for “Imperfection” and won 1st place for an acrylic painting “Encroaching.” For the drawing category, East Sac’s Ashley Vaca won 2nd place for a chromatic drawing named “Chilling,” and SCC’s Channing Worthen won for an achromatic drawing titled “Photobooth Fun”. Two more SSC students won awards in the panting division: Morgan McChesney for an acrylic painting, “Adrenaline,” and Izaak Pascual for a non-acrylic painting called “Mom.” In ceramics, SSC’s Stanley Maulsby-Anderson took home first place for “Anguish” and for Sculpture and 3D Mixed Media, Jayden Carnine of East Sac won second place for a piece called “Angels Numbers 333”. Worthen from SSC also took home an Honorable Mention for a sculpture titled “Octopot & Seacups.” Pictures of all award-winning pieces have been included below.
