Local unemployment rates for February have been released by WorkForce Iowa, with most of the listening area counties following the trend of decreasing the unemployment rate. Carroll County reported unemployment figures of February at 2.1%, a decrease of .3 points from the previous month and from the 2.7% reported a year ago. Greene County saw a decrease of .5 points from the past month, to see a rate of 2.1% for February, but is an increase of .1 points from the previous year. Crawford still remains an outlier with unemployment rates, with the constant 6.5% staying throughout the month, which is a .6-point increase from Feb. 2023. Sac County saw a rate of 2.8% for this past February, a decrease of .4 points on the month and a slight decrease from the 2.9% reported last year. Calhoun County reported a 2.5% unemployment rate, .6 points decrease from the past month and .2 points decrease from the previous year. Audubon County also saw a decrease from the 3.0% reported in January to 2.5% in February and down .1 points from February of 2023. Guthrie County saw a slight decrease to 4.0%, .2 points decrease on the month but a .3-point increase from last year.
