The Annual Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event Is This Weekend For Carroll County Residents

This weekend will be the annual Carroll County Solid Waste household hazardous waste drop-off event, which allows residents in Carroll County to safety dispose of certain items properly and safely. These hazardous products are not allowed to be disposed of in regular trash bins, which makes getting rid of these items difficult. Mary Wittry, event organizer and who serves on the Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission, says for the past 20 years, The Carroll County Solid Waste Commission and Metro Waste Authority has been providing Carroll County residents with this opportunity and the process is so simple.

While this event allows for many items to be disposed of safely, there are some that they will not take. Wittry says every year, there is one product a lot of people asks if it’s something they would accept.

Wittry says these items are not allowed in the landfill because of potential risks to health and safety.

This event will be held this Saturday, at the DMACC Campus, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A full list of acceptable and non-accepted items is included with this story on our website.
