Next Wednesday, hundreds of volunteers are going to be at the IKM-Manning high school gym to package a goal of 50,000 meals during the Wolf Pack For Hunger event. This will be the seventh packaging event for the district, community churches and C-3 (Community + Christ + Celebration) non-profit to fight hunger by donating the packaged meals to the Feeding America Food Bank Network. C-3 is looking to crowd the gym with volunteers to package at least 50,000 soup meals, with added vitamins, minerals, and proteins to supplement an unbalanced diet. There are many ways community members can join the team to fight hunger. Those interested in participating in the packaging of the food items can register using the link provided below. Another way members can help out is by donating money towards the programs. C-3’s goal is to raise $16,000 to donate to the Meals of Hope organization. Every donation is meaningful, as 32 cents packages a bag of soup to feed a family of 6, $16 sponsors 50 meals, $70 buys a case to feed 216, and $500 buys 1,560 meals, sponsors a table of 20 volunteers to package for one hour. Businesses, organizations and individuals wishing to donate can mail their donations to C-3 at Box 251, Manning Iowa 51455. During the event, volunteers and others are welcomed to bring donations of non-perishable food items, paper products and personal hygiene items for the local food pantry to help the immediate community. Those with questions are asked to contact Jean Stadtlander, Bob Riggert or Rachel Merkel who’s contact points have been included below.
