Gas prices are wavering by just a few cents, according to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture and AAA Iowa. As of Wednesday, March 27, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Iowa was at $3.33, up two cents from the previous week but a larger jump from the $3.17 from a year ago. The Iowa average still sits well below the U.S average, which increased two cents from last week to $3.54 per gallon, ten cents higher from prices of last year in March. Retail diesel prices in Iowa decreased one cent to $3.78 per gallon from last week prices, and still lower than the $3.85 per gallon reported from a year ago. Diesel prices in Iowa are 27 cents lower than the national average, which held steady at $4.05 from the previous week, and lower from the price of $4.24 per gallon from a year ago. Whole ethanol remained unchanged at $2.16 per gallon. In heating fuels, home heating oil held steady at $3.20 per gallon, but 14 cents lower than the prices from March 2023. Propane prices decreased one cent to $1.58 per gallon from last week, and less than the $1.92 per gallon prices from a year ago. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose two cents to $1.72 per MMBtu.
