The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will hold two separate meetings on Monday, one for the public hearing for the proposed property tax levy rate for this fiscal year (FY) and the following meeting for regular business. The public hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the Swan Lake Education Center to discuss the new proposed tax rate for Carroll County at $4.60948 per $1000 of taxable valuation. This is a decrease from the current tax rate of $4.69065. Still, the overall revenue from the proposed property tax is increasing due to employee salaries and property and liability insurance increases. Once the public hearing is closed, the supervisors will move into the next meeting to discuss regular business items. The first step on the agenda is to approve plat(s) and a Class C retail alcohol license for Carroll Iowa Golf LLC. The board will consider authorizing the public health department to obtain a credit card for purchases, the FY25 Carroll County budget, and scheduling the public hearing before finalizing the budget. The members will finish the meeting by discussing the supervisor’s boardroom furniture and hearing committee reports. The Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting is open to the public. The board members encourage county residents to address questions or concerns regarding the proposed property tax rate at the public hearing.
