The Carroll County Republican Women’s Club has invited Team Iowa to offer a free presentation of the movie, “Gridshock,” to spread awareness about sex trafficking and sexual assault occurring right here in Iowa in honor of April being known as sexual assault awareness month. This event will be held on Thursday at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center, starting at 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend at no cost, and no registration is required. Team Iowa has been traveling the state, offering this program to 30 of Iowa’s 99 counties to educate communities on what is happening right here in the state. The Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault (CAASA) and New Creation Pregnancy Resources Center of Carroll will also be there on Thursday to provide resources and to answer questions about services they can provide for individuals in Carroll and surrounding communities. Cindy Scaturico, President of the Carroll County Republican Women, says spreading awareness about human trafficking is the organization’s 2024 “Caring for America Project” and has been collecting toiletries for CAASA to be donated to survivors of sexual assault in Carroll County. Scaturico is encouraging all who can attend, and since it is a rated R movie, middle or high school children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians. Again, the free presentation of the film “Gridshock” will happen this Thursday at the Swan Lake Education Center starting at 7:00 p.m.
