Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds orders the flags to be flown at half-staff tomorrow (Saturday) from sunrise to sunset in honor of a fallen World War II soldier from Iowa on the day of his Celebration of Life. U.S Army Private First (Pfc) Raymond Schlamp, of Dubuque, was 28 years old when his squad serving in General George Patton’s Third Army were killed while attempting to cross the Moselle River near Horseshoe Woods by Dornot, France. His remains were not identified until 2022 and his family received word of his identification more recently. Pfc. Schlamp will be honored by family and community members at Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building, the flag display on the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities across the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
