This Saturday, all are asked to take advantage of the beautiful weather to participate in a community clean-up day to help keep the Carroll community healthy and debris-free. Rhyem Wendl, a student at Kuemper Catholic, with the help of her mom, Holly Wendl, planned a day where people gather to tackle multiple areas in and surrounding Carroll that need some care. Wendl says she got inspired by it during spring break after seeing all the trash in the ditches but wanted to put an event together long before that.
Those interested in participating are asked to meet at the Hoyt Mansion in the courtyard at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Wendl will give volunteers one of the 37 areas she would love to have cleaned.
Wendl says volunteers do not need to stay the whole two hours to clean; even half of that time would make a difference in the community. If unable to make it to the community clean-up day this weekend, Wendl encourages everyone to take care of the Earth by keeping trash off the ground.
Again, those interested in participating in the community clean-up day are to report to the Hoyt Mansion at 220 W Seventh St. at 10 a.m. this upcoming Saturday to grab a trash bag and the location needing some cleaning. Wendl is encouraging all who can help, as there will be plenty of ground to cover.
