The Coon Rapids-Bayard Community School District has approved a teacher salary settlement and increased the pay for other district staff for the upcoming school year. With the passing of HF 2612 into law last month, schools around Iowa are now required to raise the salaries of first-year teachers to $47,500 and those with 12 years of experience to $60,000. The Coon Rapids-Bayard Board of Directors approved to raise current teachers’ salaries to the established minimum, following state legislation. The directors also approved an increase of $1500 to the salaries already meeting the minimum requirements from the State. The district has 35 teachers, of which nine would fall under 12 years of experience, meaning the district will be spending at least $1,775,000 on teacher salaries. The district’s Support staff will see a 3.5% increase in their salaries for next year, which includes the 15 paraeducators and a Secondary Interventionist. For administration, high school principal Amanda Miller and K-5 principal Kelly Sigler have been approved for a 3.5% wage increase in FY25. All raises were approved unanimously at the board of director’s meeting last Monday.
