Earlier this week, the Iowa Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) and Iowa National Emergency Number Association (NENA) celebrated Carroll County’s Communications Director and 911 Coordinator for his milestone in public safety communications during their spring conference. For the past 20 years, Jason Hoffman has served in a role for public safety dispatching, being the first initial contact for emergencies and ensuring help is called out where needed. Hoffman was awarded a plaque for his milestone, along with 20 others who have served in a 911 communication role for 20, 25, 30, or 35 years. This is the first time that APCO and NENA honored recipients in front of a crowd during the awards dinner, and both organizations plan to make it an annual event at next year’s conference.
