Pricing Changes, Inside Renovations And A New Manager Position All New Changes For Lake City’s Community Memorial Building

City council members of Lake City agreed during their last meeting to update Lake City’s Memorial Building renting and pricing policies to make the building more accessible for community members. City Administrator Jacob Matthews says residents brought the attention of the high prices to council members during a previous meeting when initially talking about the construction being done to the second floor for a museum. The rental prices were updated after a special meeting with the Community Building Board and hearing more from the public.

The city council met yesterday (Wednesday) evening to discuss what the building needed in terms of employment and the responsibilities of the role. Matthews says the manager will work part-time, roughly 5-15 hours a week, depending on events or the need from the Memorial Building. This position is perfect for retired individuals or those with flexible hours for their full-time jobs.

Those interested in the position can contact Matthews at City Hall for more details or to pick up an application. With the new renting prices and looking to hire a manager, Matthews says the renovation projects are in the works.

More renovations include the second-story museum, which will feature war memorabilia and possibly a helicopter simulator experience from the Vietnam War era. The Friends of the Lake City Community Memorial Building have been fundraising to raise money for the renovations, and more details about their next upcoming event will appear in new stories from Carroll Broadcasting.
