Ida Grove Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison On Child Pornography Charges

An Ida Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on possession of child pornography charges. Forty-nine-year-old Scott Allen Tomlinson was sentenced yesterday (Thursday) after a joint investigation by federal and local law enforcement agencies. Authorities say Tomlinson stored and accessed child pornography via the cloud between September 1, 2021, and February 23, 2022. Law enforcement recovered dozens of disturbing images from Tomlinson’s cloud-based storage system, including material depicting sadistic and masochistic conduct. In addition to the prison term, Tomlinson was ordered to pay $2,600 in fines and assessments and serve a 5-year term of supervised release after completing his sentence, as there is no parole in the federal system. Tomlinson is currently in the custody of the United States Marshals awaiting transportation to a federal prison. The case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
