An area manufacturer, Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, needs your help to be recognized as the “coolest thing made in Iowa” by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI). The world-renowned pipe organ manufacturer based in Lake City has been selected for the preliminary round of public voting, which opens today (Monday). Iowans can log on to www.coolestthingia.com and vote once per day per device through April 30 to determine the top 16 products. Round-of-16 voting is open from May 2 through May 8, and the remaining eight will be announced on May 9. Two more rounds of voting will be held from May 10 to May 16 and then from May 20 to May 29 to determine this year’s winner, to be announced June 5 during the ABI’s Taking Care of Business Conference in Davenport. ABI President Mike Ralston says, “Manufacturing is the state’s leading industry sector, with over $38 billion annually added into the economy. We’re excited to launch this competition to showcase the Iowa manufacturing industry’s best innovations, craftsmanship, and state-of-the-art technologies.” Since 1974, Dobson Pipe Organ Builders has built organs in churches, theatres, and venues across the globe, including in nearly 30 states, England, and Australia.
