Jean “Jeanne” Louise Meyers was born on April 23, 1952, to Dorothy Marie (Walden) and John Louis Meyers in Carroll, Iowa.  In the early years of her life Jeanne attended Iowa School for the Deaf.  Upon the opening of New Hope Village in Carroll in 1977, she became one of the first residents to make New Hope her home and resided there for over 45 years.  She enjoyed many activities and formed deep friendships with her New Hope family throughout the years.

Jeanne had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed giving and receiving teasing gestures and comments with family and friends.  She had an incredible memory with a keen sense for detail.  She enjoyed shopping and loved fun, colorful fashion.  If you knew Jeanne, you understood that she had an enthusiasm for cats and thoroughly enjoyed caring for her cat “Zipper.”  Jeanne persevered through countless challenges during her lifetime, teaching us much about life and love.

Jeanne is survived by sisters Patricia Mead of Collins, MO, and Kathy (Kevin) Kelley of Hobbs, NM; and by brothers Mark Meyers of Elkhorn, NE, and Steve (Joyce) Meyers of Elkhorn, NE; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; special friend, Jim O’Tool; many loving staff and dear friends in her New Hope family.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Meyers; sisters Peggy Meyers and Annie Meyers; brothers Michael Meyers and David Meyers.

The Meyers family would like to express our deep gratitude to all of the staff of New Hope Village who have given so much of themselves to surround Jeanne with tremendous care, kindness, love, and friendship.  The family would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional love, care, and support provided by Dr. Josh Williams, the nurses, the social workers, and all the staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital.  We are forever thankful for Fr. Patrick Behm’s visit to Jeanne in her final hours, and for giving her the beautiful gifts of the Anointing of the Sick and the Apostolic Pardon, as well as the visits by the Sisters who came to pray with us.  Thank you to Mr. Kyle Atkinson and the staff of the Sharp Funeral Home for their kindness and the professional care they have given us.
