Leslie “Les” Duff of Carroll

Leslie Glenn Duff Leslie “Les” Duff, age 77, of Carroll, IA, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his home in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 25, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating. Music for the service will be Nancy Davis.  Casket bearers will be Jeff Schuler, John Jorgensen, Jake Schultes, Al Deike, Ron Olsen, and Steve Nuckles. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Masonic Memorial Service held at 7:00 P.M.  The casket will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

Les was born on March 27, 1947 in Jefferson, IA, and he was the son of Roscoe A. and Harriett (Cook) Duff.  He grew up on a farm south of Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1965 as valedictorian.  Les was in the All-State orchestra his senior year of high school.  He attended Iowa State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction.  Following college he worked for Carroll Lumber Company for 26 years.  Les then worked for Pella Corp for 15 years.  He was married to Vickie Schuler on June 12, 1982 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll by Msgr. Roger Augustine.  Les was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll.  He was also very active with Signet Lodge #264 A.F. and A.M. in Carroll for over 50 years holding several offices including Master four times.  He was also active in the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and played tuba in the Shrine band for several years.  He served as Worthy Patron and Organist for the Order of the Eastern Star.  Les enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music and spending time with his family.

Les is survived by his wife Vickie of Carroll; daughter Becky Duff of Carroll; son David (Jess) Duff of Johnston, IA; two grandsons: Nolan and Landon; two sisters-in-law Kris Jorgensen (John) of Carroll and Jeanette Duff of Texas; a brother-in-law Jeff Schuler (Jeri) of Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.

Les was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Herriet Duff; his mother and father-in-law Rosie and Al Schuler; and two brothers: Raymond and James.
