City Of Manning Trying To Reach Compromise With New Proposals From Origin Homes On Stadium View Drive Housing Project

The city of Manning is in a back-and-forth disagreement with Origin Homes regarding where the new housing for the Workforce Housing Tax Credit Project will be placed. The city of Manning has been working on a subdivision to provide a Workforce Housing Tax Credit to individuals looking to build new homes in the community, working with custom home construction company Origin Homes out of West Des Moines. Back in December of 2023, Origin hosted an open house to allow the public to view one of the custom houses that was built in the town, providing an idea to what could be built on the Stadium View Drive development. The Stadium View pocket neighborhood is selling 20- 2,800 square feet lots, with Origin homes contracted to build homes of five of the lots. City Administrator Dawn Meyer says Origin is now looking to relocate the lots for the houses.

Meyer says that while the lots are not moving far, the council says the new proposed location goes against the vision the city of Manning had for the development.

After the city council rejected the request, Origin tried to negotiate by not moving all the lots.

Meyer said that by holding a special meeting with Origin, hopefully, this week, the city council can discuss matters immediately and reach an agreement with Origin Homes, which would be a great addition to the Manning community.
