U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), the ranking member of the Senate Small Business Committee, has announced The Cottage of Crawford County as her Small Business of the Week. Owned by Cindy and Taylor Borkowski, The Cottage is a thriving small business in Denison that specializes in home decor. The mother-daughter duo transformed their passion for home decor into a successful venture after purchasing the Your Treasure Chest store in 2020 and rebranding it as The Cottage. Alongside home decor items, The Cottage offers a diverse range of products, including children’s, baby, seasonal, and devotional items. The Cottage has received accolades such as the Best Boutique in Crawford County and the Innovators Award from the local Chamber and Development Council. Taylor Borkowski, co-founder of The Cottage, is also known for her community leadership and organizing Denison’s Hot Summer Nights series. This year marks the fourth anniversary of The Cottage’s establishment. Ernst says, “I want to congratulate the Borkowskis for pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams and creating a great community in Denison.” As part of her initiative to highlight Iowa’s small businesses, Ernst plans to recognize one business in each of the state’s 99 counties throughout this Congress.
