Tomorrow (Wednesday), the City of Vail will be flushing hydrants as part of yearly maintenance to ensure the upkeep of the water quality. City crews will be flushing the hydrants, causing water to move through the pipes at a high rate and keeping the lines free of mineral deposits. During the flushing, residents may experience some water discoloration, especially during and immediately after the flushing occurs. If this happens, residents are asked to run water until it clears. The city wants to remind customers to check their hot water lines to see if discolored water went into the water heater. Refraining from washing white or light-colored laundry is recommended until discolored water is returned to clear. Residents may also see lower water pressure during flushing. The pressure should return to normal after the flushing is completed. Again, the City of Vail will be flushing hydrants throughout the day tomorrow (Wednesday); those with questions or concerns are asked to contact City Hall at 712-677-2210.
