Two cities in the listening area have recently received the Community Development Block Grant to help provide funding assistance for projects to strengthen communities. With the help from the Region XII Council of Governments, the cities of Dedham and Schleswig will each receive a grant through this program offered by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). Dedham will use the $500,000 grant to help offset the $1.6 million water main project, replacing over 8,500 feet of water lines throughout the community. The city of Schleswig will use the $420,000 grant to purchase its existing childcare facility building and provide more childcare services for community residents. The staff at Region XII want to thank both communities for allowing them to assist during the application process and are proud to have helped prepare and secure funding for the community.
