Gov. Reynolds Announces Planned Trade Mission To India

Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced plans for a trade mission to India later this year to bolster Iowa’s ties with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. Joining her will be Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and a delegation of agricultural and business leaders. With India’s significant economic growth and large consumer market, Reynolds sees the mission as an opportunity to showcase Iowa as an investment destination, particularly in advanced manufacturing, biotech, finance, and insurance, as well as a key trade partner in agricultural exports. Organized by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) with support from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Service, the mission will include meetings with business and government leaders in Mumbai and New Delhi. Reynolds says, “India is the world’s largest democracy and, over the last two decades, it has transformed its economy, making it the fifth largest in the world. With India’s tremendous growth and massive consumer market, this trade mission is an excellent opportunity to promote Iowa as an investment destination for Indian companies.” Naig emphasized the potential for Iowa to capitalize on India’s growing demand for ethanol, livestock feed, and pork exports, highlighting the mutual benefits of strengthening trade relations.
