Phase II of the Adams Street reconstruction project is scheduled to get underway next week, and city officials are reminding residents of the potential impact on their daily driving habits. Public Works Director Randy Krauel says Adams Street between 12th and 13th Streets will be closed beginning Monday, May 6.
Krauel adds this is only a small section of Phase II, as the remaining portion from 10th Street to 12th Street will not begin until after school is out for the summer.
Phase I from U.S. Highway 30 to 10th Street was completed last year, and Krauel says that full-depth reconstruction, which included water and sewer mains beneath the new road, went smoothly for the city.
The Adams Street reconstruction was somewhat of a pilot project for full-depth replacement work in Carroll, as the city will have a large-scale project like this programmed into the budget every few years for the foreseeable future. Krauel says he hopes to become more efficient each time they complete a section.
Substantial completion for the $3.6 million project is expected before the 2024/25 school year begins on Aug. 23.
