Governor Kim Reynolds released a statement today (Tuesday), recognizing Iowa’s rank in the top 10 best states. According to U.S News and World Report, Iowa is ranked the sixth-best state overall, based on scores compared to other states regarding economy, education, opportunity, crime and corrections, and more. Iowa ranks the third best state in opportunity, seventh for long-term fiscal stability, ninth for healthcare access and affordability, and 11th for education. From the report last year, Iowa is up one spot from the overall rankings and up two spots in education. Reynolds says, “Iowa is recognized as one of the best states to live, work, and raise a family because we rely on common sense and respect the people we serve. We are on a path to being number one, and we are showing the country that small states can do big things. From cutting taxes and shrinking government to giving our teachers the largest pay raise in state history, I’m proud of the foundation we are building in Iowa.” A link to the full report is included below.
